Grandfather Henry Masayoshi Sakamoto with my mother - Maryann Sakamoto, before Minidoka Internment Camp

April 7, 1942, all Japanese were ordered to be evacuated from their communities. Henry Masayoshi  Sakamoto #39/13493 was sent to Santa Fe Internment Camp, Santa Fe, New Mexico then onto Minidoka Internment Camp Jerome ID, where my grandfather was labeled "Enemy Alien."

“December 10, 1943 U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Santa Fe Internment Camp, Santa Fe, New Mexico, File No. 39/13493, District Director, Immigrations and Naturalization Service, Spokane, Washington, Subject: Harry Masayoshi Sakamoto: 39/13493, There are transmitted herewith the following files pertaining to the Japanese male alien shown above who transferred from the Santa Fe Internment Camp to Minidoka War Relocation Project on December 3, 1943. Santa Fe File No. 1300/B-1258, It will be noted that Certificate of Identification issued to the subject alien (is not) contained in the files. Any files relating to this alien received here in the future will be forwarded.  Lloyd H. Jensen, cc: District Director, Immigration and Naturalization Service.”
